The Mayor of Idemili North LGA, Chief Nkwoka Stanley Chigbo (Ochendo Idemili), has dismissed allegations by House of Representatives aspirant, Hon. Ifeanyichukwu Anthony Ibezi, that thugs linked to him were behind a purported assassination attempt.

In a press statement, Chigbo described the claims as unfounded and politically motivated, accusing Ibezi of distorting facts for personal gain. He questioned the aspirant’s decision to attend an event despite prior security warnings issued by his office.

The Mayor also raised concerns over Ibezi’s reported appearance at the venue with unidentified armed individuals, describing it as reckless and capable of escalating tension.

Chigbo further rejected attempts to link the incident to Operation Udogachi, a state-backed security initiative, insisting that no credible evidence supports claims of an attack.

He noted that despite allegations that two police officers were shot, the Anambra State Police Command has not confirmed any such incident.

The Mayor concluded that the claims amount to a smear campaign aimed at discrediting his administration, urging leaders to prioritize responsibility and respect for institutions.
