Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state has assured that his administration would continue to work closely with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to ensure the welfare, security and productivity of corps members in the state.

Soludo gave the assurance while playing host to the State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Pauline Ojisua and her team at the Government House, Awka.

He described corps members as vital part of the State’s development efforts, just as he praised their positive contributions across communities in the state.

While sharing personal memories from his own service year in Oyo State between 1984 and 1985, the Governor revealed how the scheme exposed him to new cultures and traditions.

“The NYSC helped me conquer culture shock. It was in Ife that I first tasted amala, ewedu and Ikokore. Those experiences shaped my outlook in many ways,” he said.

Ojisua, while presenting key operational needs of the scheme in the State, called for government intervention in critical areas to improve the living and working conditions of corps members.

The welfare and security of corps members topped discussions at the meeting.
