Human rights lawyer and lead counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has called on the people of Ala-Igbo to confront the truth surrounding the killings in Orsu Ihiteukwa and ensure those responsible are held accountable through lawful means.
In his Weekend Musings titled “Orsu Ihiteukwa Tragedy: Heinous Beyond the Cries We Raised — A Call for Truth, Comprehensive Cleansing, Accountability and Generational Reckoning,” Ejiofor described the violence as one of the darkest chapters in recent Igbo history.
He said the tragedy requires honest reflection, proper documentation, justice for victims, and healing for affected communities.
According to him, lasting peace can only be achieved through truth, accountability, reconciliation, and restoration of the dignity of the victims.
Ejiofor stressed that those who allegedly instigated, sponsored, enabled, or concealed the atrocities should face transparent legal processes, warning that no society can build a credible future by ignoring crimes of the past.
He also urged survivors and affected families to continue telling their stories, insisting that the memories of the victims should never be erased or sacrificed for political convenience.
“The truth must prevail. Justice must be done. The land must be healed. The victims must never be forgotten,” he stated.
