An Anambra-born human rights lawyer and Lead Counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Esq., KSC, Dunu-Ezeugosinachi, has described the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Nnewi, Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi, as a bishop of “extraordinary vision,” whose leadership has ushered in unprecedented transformation in the Diocese.
Ejiofor said the Bishop’s achievements since assuming office went beyond statistics and official records, describing them as “visible footprints of vision, courage, discipline and purposeful stewardship.”
The human rights lawyer made the commendation after participating actively in the 2026 Synod of the Diocese of Nnewi.
In a statement titled, “Monday Musings: A Bishop of Extraordinary Vision and Unprecedented Transformation: Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi and the Rising Glory of Nnewi Diocese,” Ejiofor said the theme of the Synod, “Be Strong and of Good Courage,” drawn from Joshua 1:9, aptly captured the Bishop’s approach to Christian leadership.
“As a Standing Bishop Nominee at the Annual Synod of the Diocese of Nnewi, I have made it a point of Christian duty and obligation to honour the invitation to participate actively in every Synod session of the Diocese in the capacity herein stated.
“The theme of this year’s Synod, ‘Be Strong and of Good Courage,’ drawn from Joshua 1:9, represents a divine injunction to rise above fear, embrace courage and remain steadfast in the pursuit of faithful obedience and transformative leadership,” he said.
Ejiofor added that the unfolding story of Nnewi Diocese under Obi offered “a compelling illustration of faith translated into purposeful action.”
He said one of the major highlights of the 2026 Synod was the account of development and transformation contained in the Bishop’s Address delivered on September 5.
According to him, the Diocese’s diversified investments and initiatives aimed at economic advancement, growth and sustainable development were particularly remarkable.
“From massive investments in agriculture, oil and gas, food security, education, manpower development and humanitarian services, to youth training and social interventions, the breadth and depth of these initiatives speak eloquently to a leadership driven not merely by ecclesiastical responsibilities, but by a profound understanding of the Church as an instrument for spiritual, social and economic transformation,” Ejiofor stated.
He declared that Obi had set a new standard of episcopal leadership in Nnewi Diocese, stressing that his achievements were not merely figures to be recited but evidence of purposeful stewardship.
Ejiofor also highlighted what he described as the expanding reach of the Gospel under the Bishop’s leadership.
He recalled that a Catholic friend once told him about his mother’s devoted participation in the Diocese’s online prayers, held every weekday morning from 6am to 7am.
According to him, the woman had become so committed to the prayers that she specifically asked her child to make meaningful contributions towards the success of the Synod.
“That simple but profound testimony demonstrates the extraordinary reach of the Bishop’s voice and ministry beyond denominational boundaries,” he said.
Ejiofor described Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi as a blessing to the Diocese, saying his episcopacy had brought monumental changes, expanded the frontiers of the Gospel and demonstrated that Christian leadership could be both spiritually grounded and practically transformative.
“As we celebrate the successful hosting of this year’s Synod at the now-Basilica of St. Mark’s Church, Nnewichi, we must also acknowledge the exceptional stewardship that has given the Diocese renewed visibility, vitality and purpose,” he said.
Quoting Psalm 127:1, Ejiofor said: “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it,” adding that “the evident hand of God in this remarkable journey is therefore unmistakable.”
He prayed for continued wisdom, strength and divine grace for the Bishop, his family and ministry.
“My Lord Bishop, your journey so far is a testimony to what vision, courage and divine grace can accomplish when placed in the service of God and humanity.
“May the Diocese of Nnewi continue to flourish under your stewardship, and may your episcopacy leave an enduring legacy of faith, transformation, service and practical Christianity,” he said.
Ejiofor congratulated the Bishop on what he described as “another remarkable Synod” and on the transformation taking place under his leadership.
“To God alone be all the glory,” he added.
