The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) has presented Certificates of Return to the 21 Chairmen-elect of the State’s Local Government Areas who contested under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The certificates were presented on Tuesday at the ANSIEC Secretariat in Awka, alongside those of Deputy Chairmen-elect and Councillors who emerged victorious in their respective wards.
ANSIEC Chairman, Genevieve Osakwe, described the council election as free, fair and credible, commending voters for turning out to exercise their franchise and security agencies for maintaining peace during the exercise.
She disclosed that the Young Progressives Party (YPP) won two councilorship seats in Ajali and Ndikelionwu wards in Orumba North Local Government Area.
Speaking after receiving his Certificate of Return, the Onitsha South Chairman-elect, Chukwuemerie Ibekwe, said his emergence would usher in a new dawn in the area, pledging to implement his eight-point agenda.
Similarly, the Njikoka Chairman-elect, Dr. Ikechukwu Okeakpu, thanked the people for their confidence and promised to work in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision for the state.
