Anambra community plans own radio, TV stations to become center of innovations in Africa

The newly elected Traditional Ruler of Oba community, Igwe Engr Augustine Chinedu Emelobe, Eze Okpoko II of Oba has rolled out plans to make Oba a center of innovation in Africa.

He disclosed that a Radio and Television stations would be established soon in his community.

The Igwe made his intentions known recently while addressing Oba Congress during the annual general meeting held at Oba Civic Center, Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State.

“We want to announce to you with joy that we have currently obtained a TV and Radio operational License, a 5000kw capacity that can cover the entire South Eastern States, South South and parts of North Central States.

“This is a major mile stone for us in our quest to create a new egalitarian city of Oba and launder our battered image.

The project has begun and all the preliminaries are being done and will hopefully become operational by fourth quarter of 2025.

“The Radio and TV stations will serve as a major connection between Oba and the world. It will project the image of Oba in our own narratives and terms.

” It will open up great commercial opportunities to Oba residents. It will create jobs both directly and indirectly to many Oba indigenes while allowing us to tell our own story, ourselves and not by others. It will gather the world to Oba to invest while it takes Oba to the global stage and commerce. Oba will be literally informed, “the Igwe disclosed.

The monarch added that several committees had been constituted in Oba community to help achieve a desirable Mega city where both indigenes and non- indigenes would love to reside, invest and be part of urging illustrious sons and daughters of Oba Ebo iteghete to identify with any of the committees to make meaningful contributions that would foster peace, progress and development.

“Here lies our vision, this is our grand design; a short, medium and long term framework to put Oba in the right path for calculated and measured development.

“We have in conjunction with the OPU President General, created 33 committees and 2 councils, both standing and ad hoc, to be used to develop Oba into an Urban city in line with the Urban Development Plan of the Government.

“The plan is to use Oba people, organized in committees to prepare, design and develop Oba. We expect every Oba person that has something to give to become part of one of these committees. All Oba indigenes – at home and in diaspora – and all lovers of Oba are qualified to be considered in any one of these committees.

On insecurity, youth restiveness and job creation the Monarch said his leadership had set out to ensure that Oba people are gainfully employed to reduce security challenges and youth restiveness.

He explained that the entire projects planned for Oba is primarily geared towards creating jobs for the teeming youths of Oba and others.

“We have already moved to connect our people to every possible job opportunity that comes up. We are planning to make Oba a beehive of economic activities by the activities of these committees. Oba will become an investment destination. We have also planned proper reorientation of the people in line with the level of all round development coming to Oba.
