The Labour Party Senatorial Candidate for Anambra Central, Ven. Tochukwu Ikezue, has applauded the performance of Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, urging the people of the state to sustain his administration by voting for the Labour Party in the forthcoming general elections.

Ikezue, who spoke with newsmen in Awka, congratulated Otti on the successful flag-off of his re-election campaign at the Umuahia Township Stadium, saying the massive turnout demonstrated the people’s support for the governor and his administration.

He described Otti as the “new face of good governance in Nigeria,” saying his administration had demonstrated what could be achieved through purposeful leadership, reforms and responsible governance.

According to Ikezue, Otti’s declaration at the campaign flag-off that Abia was now on the right track was a clear indication of his determination to consolidate the gains of his administration and prevent a return to what he described as the era of irresponsible leadership.

He said the large gathering of Labour Party supporters from the 17 Local Government Areas of the state, which turned the event into a carnival-like celebration, was evidence of the growing confidence in the Otti administration.

Ikezue said Otti had “broken the siege” on Abia since assuming office in 2023, adding that the governor had restored the dignity, freedom and confidence of the people.

He commended the administration for its infrastructural projects, particularly the over 400 road projects reportedly covering more than 1,000 kilometres across the state.

He listed the Port Harcourt Road, Oboha Road, Ohanku Road and Arochukwu Road in Aba among the projects, while also commending the administration’s interventions in primary healthcare, education, agriculture, industrial revival and support for small and medium-scale enterprises.

The Labour Party candidate also cited the employment of over 9,000 teachers, construction of smart schools and investments in Abia State University, Uturu, and Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, as part of the achievements of the administration.

He further commended Otti for promoting political tolerance, particularly his directive that public facilities be made available to all political parties upon payment of the requisite fees.

Ikezue also praised the governor’s call for issue-based campaigns devoid of brigandage, describing it as a demonstration of commitment to democratic values.

He said the governor’s manifesto, “The New Abia: From Rescue to Consolidation,” provided a framework for sustaining the gains recorded by his administration.

Ikezue urged Abians to support the Labour Party in the coming elections, saying the people should sustain what he described as the positive transformation taking place in the state.

“On behalf of the Labour Party family in Anambra Central, I urge all Abians to vote Labour Party all the way in the coming general elections,” he said.
