Anambra-born human rights lawyer and lead counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has described his recognition by Creekvibes Magazine as the “crowning laurel” of his professional honours for 2026, pledging to intensify his fight for justice and the protection of fundamental human rights.

Ejiofor received the Most Outstanding Human Rights Lawyer of the Year award at the Creekvibes Magazine Awards held in Lagos on Saturday, October 24, 2026.

In a statement titled “Monday Musings: The Crowning Laurel of the Year from the Fourth Estate of the Realm,” dated October 26, the lawyer expressed gratitude to the magazine for recognising his contributions to human rights advocacy.

He described the media as an indispensable pillar of democracy, noting its vital role in exposing injustice, holding public officials accountable and amplifying the voices of vulnerable and marginalised people.

According to him, a courageous, independent and responsible media remains essential to protecting democratic institutions and promoting accountability.

Ejiofor, who holds the traditional title of Dunu-Ezeugosinachi, said the award was particularly meaningful because it represented independent recognition of his efforts to defend the oppressed, challenge abuses of power and protect fundamental freedoms.

“I regard this recognition as the crowning laurel of my professional honours this year, another feather added to our cap,” he said.
The lawyer emphasised that the true measure of professional success lies not merely in awards but in the lives touched, injustices confronted and positive changes achieved in society.

He thanked the management and staff of Creekvibes Magazine, describing the honour as both humbling and a renewed call to service.

Ejiofor pledged to speak more courageously against injustice and remain steadfast in defending the rights of vulnerable individuals whose voices might otherwise go unheard.

He stressed that human rights advocacy remained an unfinished responsibility, adding that society must collectively uphold human dignity and ensure that justice is accessible to all.

“The work of human rights advocacy is never truly finished, and no individual accolade can substitute for the collective responsibility we owe to humanity,” he said.

The lawyer attributed his achievements to the grace of God, whom he described as his ultimate source of strength and inspiration.

He reaffirmed his commitment to justice, conscience and the protection of human rights, declaring: “To God alone be all the glory. It can only be God!”
