The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), South-East Zone, has pledged to strengthen its partnership with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), following the inauguration of the Commission’s new Awka Directorate.

The Chairman of MAN South-East, Lady Ada Chukwudozie, made the commitment while fielding questions from journalists shortly after the inauguration of the EFCC Awka Directorate by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was represented at the event by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.

Chukwudozie said MAN would leverage the proximity of the anti-graft agency to deepen collaboration in areas of mutual interest, particularly accountability, transparency, compliance and the fight against economic and financial crimes.

She said the presence of the EFCC in Awka would provide an opportunity for stronger engagement between the agency and the organised private sector towards improving service delivery and creating a more predictable environment for businesses.

“As a productive enterprise, we require strong institutions, and the EFCC is here to work within the framework of accountability, transparency and predictability, and ostensibly to prevent crimes of all sorts.

“I think the Awka Zonal Directorate is going to be beneficial to all of us, and we pray that this office will be a symbol of service that will strengthen enterprise and our collective prosperity.”

The MAN South-East chairman further assured that the association would continue to promote dialogue and compliance while supporting efforts to build and attract businesses capable of contributing to the development of Anambra State and Nigeria.

She, however, urged officials of the EFCC to discharge their responsibilities with professionalism, fairness and integrity, while maintaining constructive engagement with the private sector.

“We hope that the officials will discharge their duties with professionalism, fairness and integrity and consult the private sector to engage us constructively.”
