There was jubilation at the RS5.36 Oraifite Unit Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, following the commissioning of newly completed infrastructure projects at the command.
The projects include a new entrance security gate, four solar-powered street lights and a mini connecting gate, aimed at improving security, visibility and the overall outlook of the command.
The entrance security gate was donated by High Chief Chudi Ufondu (Ichie Odogwu Oraifite), while Chief Donatus Ndukwe donated the four solar-powered street lights.
The mini connecting gate was sponsored by the Unit Commander, CRC Ogechukwu Nwolisa.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, which formed part of her third quarterly visit to the unit in 2026, the Anambra Sector Commander, Bridget Asekhauno, commended Nwolisa for her transformational leadership and commitment to improving the standard of the command.
Asekhauno also appreciated the project donors, describing their contributions as a demonstration of the importance of community partnership in promoting road safety.
She urged other stakeholders and members of the Oraifite community to support FRSC programmes and initiatives, stressing that effective road safety management requires collective responsibility.
Earlier, Nwolisa expressed appreciation to the Sector Commander, project sponsors, sister security agencies, stakeholders and members of the host community for their support.
She described the new entrance gate as a significant milestone, noting that it was the first major entrance gate provided for the command since its establishment in 2013.
According to her, the solar-powered lights would improve visibility and strengthen the security of the command’s premises and assets, especially at night.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of awards of recognition to the project donors and other stakeholders for their contributions to the development of the unit.
Among those present were representatives of the traditional institution, Nigeria Police Force, Agunechemba Security Outfit, the Catholic Church, FRSC Special Marshals and Oraifite youth leadership.
The guests commended the FRSC for its commitment to road safety and community engagement and pledged continued support for initiatives aimed at protecting lives and property.
