Eastland Electricity Rewards Top Performers at Maiden Mid-Year Staff Awards
Eastland Electricity Distribution Limited (EEDL) has rewarded outstanding employees at its maiden Mid-Year Staff Recognition Awards, reaffirming its commitment to excellence, staff motivation, and improved service delivery.

Speaking on the initiative, the company’s Head of Communications, Mrs. Patience Ezeagu, described the awards as a landmark programme aimed at recognising employees who have distinguished themselves through exceptional dedication and performance.

She disclosed that the recognition exercise would now hold twice yearly—mid-year and at the end of the year—to appreciate staff contributions and inspire greater productivity.

According to her, the initiative is designed to encourage healthy competition, boost staff morale, and strengthen the company’s resolve to deliver quality electricity services to customers across Ebonyi State.

The event witnessed an enthusiastic reception for the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Nnamdi Chuka-Nwosu, as staff welcomed him with chants reflecting their confidence in his leadership.

Addressing the gathering, Chuka-Nwosu commended the workforce for their resilience, teamwork, and commitment despite operational challenges.

“I have so much belief in the EEDL team. I know I have the best team, and we will always remain the best,” he said.

He assured employees that management would continue to provide the necessary support to improve their efficiency while urging them to remain customer-focused by demonstrating professionalism, courtesy, and effective communication in all engagements.

Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Cyprian Nwankwegu, also congratulated the staff on their achievements and urged marketers to ensure prompt bill distribution and speedy resolution of customer complaints. He encouraged employees to remain united in building a stronger and more successful organisation.

The ceremony featured awards in several categories, including Overall Best Meter Technician, Best Billing Officer, Best Customer Service Officer, Best Marketer, Best Linesman, Best Feeder Manager, Best Driver, Best Security Officer, Best Cleaner, Best Cable Jointer, Best Substation Operator, and Best Operations Technician, among others.

Award recipients received certificates of recognition and cash gifts from the Managing Director in appreciation of their outstanding contributions to the company’s growth.

Responding on behalf of the awardees, Christiana Obasi, who emerged as Best Billing Officer, thanked the management for introducing the recognition programme, describing it as a morale-boosting initiative that would inspire employees to sustain excellence and work harder towards achieving the company’s operational and revenue targets.

The Mid-Year Staff Recognition Awards complement EEDL’s End-of-Year Recognition Awards introduced in 2025, reinforcing the company’s commitment to rewarding excellence, inspiring productivity, and delivering reliable electricity services across Ebonyi State.
