More than a decade of water scarcity at the Anaocha Local Government Secretariat in Neni, Anambra State, has come to an end following the commissioning of a solar-powered borehole by the Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area, Hon. Romanus Ibekwe.
For over 10 years, the council secretariat operated without a reliable water supply, causing difficulties for staff and visitors. The new solar-powered borehole now provides clean and sustainable water, improving the working environment and service delivery.
Speaking during the commissioning, Ibekwe said the project reflects his administration’s commitment to providing essential infrastructure and improving residents’ welfare. He noted that similar solar-powered boreholes have been installed in strategic communities across the local government to address water challenges.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s development agenda through people-oriented projects that improve lives at the grassroots.
Council staff and residents praised the initiative, describing it as a long-awaited solution that demonstrates the chairman’s dedication to responsive governance and sustainable development.
