Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State, has emerged winner of the Insurance Quiz Competition organized by the Department of Banking and Finance, Faculty of Management Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka.
The institution outperformed competitors including Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, Imo State University, Owerri, and the host university.
Announcing the results, Prof. Ifeoma Amakor said ESUT came second while IMT secured third place.
The winning institutions received cash prizes of N300,000, N200,000 and N100,000 respectively.
According to Amakor, the quiz focused on the provisions of the new Insurance Act and was designed to educate students on practical aspects of insurance beyond classroom learning.
Speaking at the event, insurance veteran and chairman of the occasion, Mazi Chijioke Nwafor, urged students to pursue professional certifications alongside their academic studies to improve their employability.
He also assured insurance students that professional qualifications would enhance their chances of securing employment after graduation.
