A group of stakeholders under the banner of the Solution Team, led by Chief Executive Officer of Gabros International, Chief Gabriel Chukwuma, has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that Nnewichi produces the next Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area in line with the decision of the traditional ruler of Nnewi.
Addressing supporters at his residence on Sunday, Chief Chukwuma said the movement was gaining momentum and expressed optimism that Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, would consider their position after receiving a letter from the group.
He maintained that their agitation was driven by the desire to promote peace, justice, equity, and fairness in Nnewi, insisting that no quarter of the community should be denied its rightful turn.
“We are not fighting anyone; we represent the interests of Nnewi. It is the turn of Nnewichi to produce the next Mayor, and this should not be a subject of controversy,” he said.
According to him, some individuals had allegedly misinformed the governor in a bid to destabilize the peaceful atmosphere in the community.
“We respect the decision of our Igwe and believe Nnewichi should take what rightfully belongs to it. If the governor listens to those trying to undermine this arrangement, APGA may face serious political consequences in Nnewi,” he added.
Also speaking, the member representing Nnewi North Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Augustine Ike (Ikedoji), stressed the need to respect the monarch’s decision.
“I represent the people of Nnewi, and we are pursuing a just cause. We will ensure the governor is properly informed about developments in our community. We stand firmly with our Igwe,” he noted.
Other prominent stakeholders at the meeting, including Prof. Obi Nwosu, Chief Eugene Okonkwo Nwizugbe (Anyanwu Igbo), Chief Emma Nsoedo, Chief Goddy Unachukwu, Chief Igweamaka Orajiuba, Engr. Ikechukwu Nwosu, Chief Bennett Ngonadi, and Prince Nonso Obi, pledged their support for the movement and its objectives.
