Anambra Commissioner demands justice for 16-year-old abuse victim

Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Esther Onyekesi, has condemned the alleged sexual abuse of a 16-year-old girl in Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area.


Speaking after receiving the teenager at her office, the commissioner described the incident as disturbing and vowed to ensure that all those involved face justice.


A medical report showed that the victim is two months pregnant. The case was brought to the attention of the ministry by a Catholic priest who intervened after learning about the girl’s situation.


According to the victim, some suspects have been arrested, while others remain at large. She was rescued from the environment by a concerned resident and later taken to the commissioner’s office for protection.


Onyekesi assured the teenager of her safety and pledged that the ministry would closely monitor the case to ensure justice is served.
Police in Nawfia are investigating the matter.
