Executive members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Awka North Local Government Area have rejected the outcome of the party’s House of Assembly primary election, urging Chukwuma Soludo to order an immediate rerun.

The party executives described the exercise as a “daylight robbery,” alleging widespread manipulation and declaration of results in several wards where voting reportedly did not take place.

Results circulating online showed incumbent lawmaker Ikwunne Chimezie polling 1,633 votes, while Ekegbue Emmanuel allegedly secured 4,721 votes to emerge winner.

Speaking for the executives, APGA Awka North chairman James Onwuka insisted the incumbent lawmaker enjoyed massive grassroots support and could not have lost in a transparent election.

He claimed elections did not hold in communities including Ugbenu, Awba Ofemili, Amansea, Mgbakwu and Amanuke, yet results were allegedly announced from the areas.

The executives warned that failure to address the complaints could hurt APGA’s chances in future elections, especially the 2027 general election.

Meanwhile, a party source disclosed that the incumbent lawmaker has petitioned the party’s appeal panel challenging the outcome of the primary.
