Barr Ifeanyi Ejiofor
Human rights lawyer and IPOB counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has said memories of those who died during the Nigerian Civil War remain deeply engraved in the hearts of Igbo people.
In a statement ahead of the May 30 Biafra remembrance, Ejiofor described the period as a solemn time for reflection, unity, and honouring victims of the war fought between 1967 and 1970.
He said the annual remembrance serves as a reminder of the suffering, killings, starvation, and displacement experienced by many civilians during the conflict, stressing the need to preserve historical truth and promote unity among Ndi Igbo.
Ejiofor also cautioned against what he described as attempts to distort historical accounts surrounding the civil war and the events that led to the declaration of Biafra.
He urged Igbo people to use the remembrance period to strengthen brotherhood, peace, and collective purpose while honouring those who lost their lives.
