Operatives of the Inspector-General of Police’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) have intensified offensive operations across Anambra State as part of efforts to tackle violent crimes and dismantle criminal networks operating in the State.
The operations are being coordinated by the General Commander of the Unit in Anambra, CSP Ahmed Ayuba, who previously served as Officer-in-Charge of the Special Anti-Cult Unit, Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Awkuzu, and Divisional Police Officer of Obosi Division.
According to the Anambra State Police Command, the increased deployment of tactical operatives is aimed at combating kidnapping, armed robbery, cult-related violence, gunrunning, and other violent crimes across identified flashpoints.
The Police Command urged residents not to panic over the heightened presence of security personnel, explaining that the operations involve coordinated raids, surveillance missions, stop-and-search duties, and strategic deployments.

Residents were encouraged to remain law-abiding and support security agencies with timely information that could assist ongoing operations.
