Comedian Okey Bakassi offers ₦5m reward after phones stolen at Ikoyi football game

Nigerian comedian Okey Bakassi has offered a ₦5 million reward for information leading to the recovery of phones stolen during a private football gathering in Ikoyi, Lagos.

In a video shared online, Bakassi said an unidentified man joined their weekly game on April 15, 2026, was allowed to play, but later pretended to be injured and left the pitch. While others were focused on the match, the suspect allegedly stole about eight phones belonging to players and fled.

He noted that the victims rely on their phones for business and warned that the devices could be sold cheaply. The incident has been reported to the police, with investigations ongoing.

Bakassi gave the suspect 24 hours to return the phones and urged anyone with useful information to come forward, promising a cash reward. He also advised the public to be cautious when buying second-hand phones.
