The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 39-year-old motel owner and two other suspects over unlawful possession of a firearm and alleged involvement in illicit drug activities in Uke, Idemili North Local Government Area.
The suspects were identified as Mr. Ifeanyi Ibeabuchi, 39; Abdullahi Shaibu, 26; and Obah Chima, 18.
Police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, acting on credible intelligence, stormed a motel in Uke in the late hours of February 9, 2026, leading to the arrest of the trio.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, a search conducted at the premises resulted in the recovery of a Jojef pump-action gun with breach number 21SA-0724, loaded with three live cartridges.
The police spokesperson disclosed that the prime suspect, Mr. Ibeabuchi, allegedly confessed to the crime during interrogation. Further investigations led to the arrest of the other two suspects and the recovery of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, Crystal Methamphetamine, Colos, and Mkpuru-mmiri.
SP Ikenga reiterated the Command’s resolve to sustain ongoing operations aimed at ridding the state of criminal elements. He also urged residents to continue providing timely and useful information to security agencies to enhance effective policing.
He added that further developments would be communicated as investigations progress.
