The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Anambra State has called for intensified campaigns promoting moral values among young Nigerians, emphasizing the need for strategic sensitisation to curb rising societal challenges.
The State Coordinator, Pauline Ojisua, made this known while receiving the Anambra State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ifeoma Chijioke, during a courtesy visit to the NYSC Secretariat.
Ojisua stressed that although issues such as drug abuse remain critical, there is a more urgent need to instill sound moral values and address negative behaviours among youths through deliberate and sustained orientation programmes.
She noted that NYSC remains a strong platform for shaping the mindset of young people—particularly Generation Z—towards building a more responsible and value-driven Generation Alpha.
“We should focus more on moral rectitude. Through proper sensitisation, we can correct many of the ills prevalent among our youths. If we get it right with Gen Z, we will certainly get it right with Generation Alpha,” she said.
The coordinator also commended NOA for its longstanding partnership, describing the agency as a dependable collaborator that has consistently supported NYSC programmes in the state.
Earlier, Chijioke explained that the visit aimed to strengthen collaboration between both agencies. She reaffirmed NOA’s commitment to value reorientation and national development through joint initiatives.
The visit featured an exchange of souvenirs as a symbol of goodwill. The NOA director presented a National Identity Booklet, while the NYSC coordinator reciprocated with the AnambraKopa Magazine.
The engagement highlights the shared commitment of both organisations to deepen collaboration in promoting youth development and nation-building in Anambra State.
