Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has dismissed recent comments and political moves by some opposition figures in the State, urging Abians to ignore what he described as mere “noise.”
Speaking on Saturday at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Umuoriehi, in Umuahia North Local Government Area, during the dedication of the church building, Otti said those aligning against his re-election were leaders who failed to deliver development to the State when they had the opportunity.
The Governor was reacting to a reported alliance formed by former Abia Governors Orji Uzor Kalu, Theodore Orji and Okezie Ikpeazu to oppose his second-term bid.
He accused the group of placing personal interests above the collective progress of Abia State.
Otti maintained that the opposition constituted a minority and insisted that their political gatherings would not succeed.
He urged residents not to be distracted by the development.
Referring to recent political criticism, the Governor said: “Pastor Uguru made reference to the noise that you may have been hearing in the last few days. I want us to just dismiss it as noise, because it is always the empty barrel that makes the loudest noise.”
He added that God does not make mistakes and would complete what He has started in Abia, assuring that his administration would remain focused on changing the State’s narrative despite opposition pressure.
