The Mayor of Idemili North Local Government Area, Stanley Nkwoka, has commended traders across several markets for complying with the Anambra State Government’s directive against the Monday sit-at-home order.

During his routine inspection of markets on Monday, Nkwoka expressed satisfaction with the level of business activities, particularly at the New Auto Spare Parts Market, Nkpor, where traders turned out in large numbers.

He attributed the improved compliance to the policies of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, noting that enhanced security measures have restored confidence among traders.

According to the mayor, security operatives have been strategically deployed across the state to prevent any form of disruption, adding that there have been no reported security incidents since the enforcement of the directive.

Leaders of various markets and communities also praised the development, saying the return to normal Monday business has boosted economic activities after years of disruption.

However, the inspection recorded mixed reactions at Nkpor Main Relief Market, where some shops remained closed. The mayor ordered the sealing of such shops, warning that defaulters risk further sanctions.

He emphasized that the directive is aimed at protecting livelihoods and sustaining economic growth in the state.
Meanwhile, the market leadership appealed for leniency, explaining that some affected traders had opened earlier in the day but left before the inspection.
