The leadership of Odera Market Traders Association, Awka in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State has thrown its weight behind the support of the traders for the re-election of Governor Charles Soludo in the November 8, 2025 election.

Making this known in Awka, the State capital, yesterday, the President of Odera Market Traders Association, Chief Nworah Nnaemeka said the commitment of the traders to actualize the bid was the reason they contributed the sum of N10 million for the governorship campaign activities.

Nnaemeka noted that the support of the traders for Soludo’s re-election would consolidate on the yearnings and aspirations of the indigenes and non-indigenes of the State for actualization of the envisioned Dubai-Taiwan Model city. He noted that the endorsement if Governor Soludo for re-election was sequel to his unprecedented development of all sectors of life.

According to him, Governor Soludo has developed Awka to the point that no one would liken it to a glorified village again. Nworah attributed the developmental strides of Soludo to the prevailing enabling environment including security architecture. He said the provision of adequate security by Governor Soludo accounted for the transformation as he condemned the agitation in some quarters for disbandment of Agunechemba, the State- controlled security outfit.

He contended that Agunechemba and Operation Udogachi were established by the law following the passage of the bill and signing it into law.

Nworah noted that Agunechemba is structured to provide security across the 179 communities in the State, using local vigilante members who he said know the terrain of their respective communities and environs.

In addition, he said Udogachi operation is a joint security efforts of the police and other sister security organizations working in collaboration with the vigilante outfit to ensure prevention of crimes and protection of lives and property of the citizens across the State. He explained that the atmosphere of safety and security as being witnessed at present in the State is Soludo’s greatest gift to the people of the State.

He disclosed that the pervading secured environment provided by Agunechemba and Udogachi is mainly responsible for the big sales and thriving economy of the State. He said that Anambra State has the biggest market in West Africa and hosts customers from across West Africa and beyond, a development that boosts internally-generated revenue and economy of the State.
