Nteje Development Union elects Osoluchukwu Nweke President-General

Nteje Development Union (N.D.U) has elected Chief Dennis Osoluchukwu Nweke (Ezenwa Chinyelugo) as its new President-General.

Mr Cletus Oguegbunam also emerged as First Vice President and Mr Chukwuemeka as Second Vice President.


The election, which was adjudged free, peaceful and transparent, held on January 26, 2026, at the Nteje Central Field in Aborgu community, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State. It was conducted under tight security and monitored by observers as well as members of the press.


Voting was conducted through a secret ballot system.


In his acceptance speech, Chief Nweke expressed gratitude to the people of Nteje for the trust and confidence reposed on him and the newly elected executives, pledging that his administration would be inclusive and focused on advancing the affairs of the union.


“Today is the President-General election, and by the grace of God, after the election was conducted and the votes were counted, I emerged the President-General-elect of N.D.U 2026. Nteje is in safe hands. It is youth o’clock, and I urge all Nteje people to come together and work with me as we develop our community,” he said.

The President-General-elect also called on those who did not scale through to embrace unity and support the new leadership in the interest of community development.
“I advise everybody to come together because we all share a good vision for Nteje. We all want our town to get better and experience development. Everybody should come and work with me so that we can take Nteje to the next level,” he added.
Chief Nweke outlined a five-point agenda for his administration, which includes human capital development, youth empowerment in the ICT industry, vocational training, educational development, infrastructural development and other community-oriented initiatives. He stressed that academic development remains fundamental and urged collective effort toward building a progressive Nteje.
He further commended the electoral committee, the electorate, the Anambra State Government for its observation role, the security agencies and members of the media for ensuring an orderly and credible process.
Community leaders, including Mr Chike Akpeli, Chairman of Ikenga Nteje General Assembly, the 47 Minor Wards Chairmen and other stakeholders, lauded the peaceful conduct of the election. They appealed to the new leadership to sustain peace, harmony and pursue the collective interest of Nteje.
Nteje Aborgu community comprises three quarters;Ezi Nteje, Ikenga Nteje and Ifite Nteje and 47 minor wards across five political wards. Each minor ward produces three delegates, bringing the total to 141 delegates, in addition to three representatives from town union in diaspora branches that are up to date with their annual dues.
