The Anambra State Government is set to launch a digital infrastructure tracker that will enable residents to monitor government projects, track their progress from contract award to completion, and report maintenance needs long after construction.

The platform, known as DocTracker, was developed by the Anambra State ICT Agency to strengthen transparency, accountability and public participation in the management of state infrastructure.

Scheduled for launch in the coming weeks, the platform is designed to provide information on public infrastructure at different stages of project execution while giving road users and residents an opportunity to report their conditions and contribute to their maintenance.

The initiative aligns with Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s commitment to ensuring that every kobo of Anambra’s resources is deployed for the benefit of Ndi Anambra.

Reviewing the platform at the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure complex on Monday, the Commissioner for Works, Arch. Okey Ezeobi, emphasised that public infrastructure belongs to the people and should be collectively protected.

He noted that roads are constructed to serve the people, making it necessary for residents to take ownership of the facilities by monitoring their condition and protecting them against damage and neglect.

Ezeobi maintained that involving residents in infrastructure monitoring would strengthen accountability and promote the sustainability of government projects.

The Managing Director of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata (CFA), explained that DocTracker integrates project tracking and infrastructure maintenance into a single digital platform.

According to him, the system is designed to bring the government, contractors and residents together, creating a channel for monitoring project delivery, reporting infrastructure challenges and promoting public accountability.

Following the review, Ezeobi and Agbata expressed optimism that the platform would be launched in the coming weeks, subject to the addition of further features to enhance its effectiveness.

The platform is expected to deepen residents’ participation in safeguarding public infrastructure and help ensure that government projects continue to serve their intended purposes beyond the construction stage.

Meanwhile, staff of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure are undergoing training by the ICT Agency to equip them with relevant information technology skills for more effective service delivery.

When fully operational, DocTracker is expected to provide Ndi Anambra with a digital window into the management of public infrastructure, strengthening citizens’ involvement in ensuring that roads and other government projects are properly delivered, monitored and maintained.
