Anambra election rerun: We’ve shown APGA govt what to expect in 2025, says Senator Ubah

The chances of the member representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Uchenna Elodimuo of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to return to the Green Chambers failed on Saturday following his defeat at the rerun election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) organized the rerun in line with the order of the Court of Appeal, by the Candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), Hon Peter Uzokwe.

Official results from the rerun announced by INEC showed that votes from various wards in Nnewi secured a resounding victory for the YPP candidate.

Member representing Anambra South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has expressed gratitude to the voters for the victory of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate, Hon Uzokwe at the polls.

Ubah expressed his gratitude to the electorate  while reacting to the outcome of the rerun elections in Nnewi on Saturday.

It should be recalled that in the rerun election for Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, YPP candidate,  Hon Uzokwe, displaced  Hon Uche Elodimuo of the APGA to emerge the lawmaker representing the Constituency.

In Orumba North and Orumba South Federal Constituency, YPP’s Chinwe Nnabuife as well defeated  Hon Okwudili Ezenwankwo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to retain her seat.

Ubah, who described the election as a litmus test of the 2025 governorship election, noted it was a show of how much people believed in his (Ubah’s) contributions to the development of Anambra State as a private citizen and a Senator.

The Senator said even though he was now a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he was able to help his former party, the YPP, to win two Federal Constituencies in an APGA-dominated State.

“I am delighted with the result of the rerun election in Anambra, it was double victory for me but more importantly, it shows we are a force to reckon with.

“Winning election is not about deploying resources on election day. As a private citizen, I have always been with my people, as a senator I am working for them, my impact is all over the place,” he said.

He commended the security agencies for their roles in ensuring that the rerun election went peacefully.

“Their presence was good, they did not harass or intimidate anybody, they ensured that everything went well. We are grateful to them,” he said.

The candidate for YPP, Hon Uzokwe polled 25,518 votes to defeat APGA candidate, Hon Elodimuo who polled 25,412 votes in Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Constituency.

The YPP candidate, Hon Princess Chinwe Nnabuife also polled 14,496 votes to defeat the PDP candidate, Okwudili Ezenwankwo who polled 13087 votes in Orumba North and South.
