The Anambra State Government has arraigned a 35-year-old woman, Anulika Nwokike Onyeanusi, over the alleged sexual abuse of her two young daughters and the production of child sexual abuse materials for financial gain.
On Tuesday, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN, led the Directorate of Public Prosecution, alongside lawyers from the Ministry of Justice’s Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Unit, in arraigning the defendant on a 14-count charge bordering on sexual abuse and child pornography.
Following her arraignment, the presiding judge, Justice Peace Otti of the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court of the Anambra State High Court, ordered that she be remanded in a correctional facility.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all the charges. The court subsequently adjourned the matter to November 27, 2026, for further proceedings.
The case follows public outrage about a month ago when videos allegedly showing the woman sexually abusing her daughters surfaced on social media. The development sparked widespread condemnation and calls for her arrest and prosecution.
Initially, the defendant reportedly claimed that the videos were generated using artificial intelligence. However, subsequent footage allegedly showing her abusing the children with sex toys, despite their pleas, went viral and intensified public demands for action.
In response, the Anambra State Government initiated legal proceedings against her, reiterating its commitment to combating child abuse, sexual violence and gender-based violence.
According to the allegations before the court, the defendant had been sexually abusing her two daughters, aged nine and seven, and using them in the production of adult content for financial gain.
The charges remain allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
