Labour Party Senatorial Candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial District, Ven. Tochukwu Ikezue, has urged the Federal Government to explain reports alleging that about ₦8.83 trillion in 2025 federal expenditure was not captured in the approved national budget.
In a statement on Monday, Ikezue said the reports, reportedly linked to a recent consultation by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), raise concerns about transparency, accountability and fiscal discipline if confirmed.
He called on the Federal Government to provide Nigerians with a comprehensive explanation, stressing that public funds must be properly accounted for, especially amid the country’s economic challenges.
Ikezue also urged the National Assembly to investigate the matter and asked the Office of the Auditor-General for the Federation and other relevant agencies to establish the facts and ensure due process.
He maintained that the issue should not be politicised, insisting that Nigerians deserve transparency and prudent management of public resources.
