The Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Esther Onyekesi, has condemned the alleged sexual abuse of a 16-year-old girl by eight men, including her guardian, in Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area.

Speaking after the victim was brought to her office, the commissioner expressed shock over the incident and vowed to ensure justice is served.

A medical report presented to the ministry confirmed that the teenager is two months pregnant. The case was reportedly brought to the attention of authorities by a Catholic priest who intervened after learning of the abuse.

The victim said she was rescued from the situation by a Good Samaritan, leading to the arrest of two suspects, while six others remain at large.

Onyekesi assured the girl of her safety and pledged that the ministry would closely monitor the case. She also urged men to protect women and children and refrain from exploiting vulnerable persons.

Police in Nawfia are said to be investigating the matter.
