President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recorded a sweeping victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election across key council areas of Anambra State monitored by our correspondent on Saturday.

A similar wave was witnessed in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) senatorial primary in Anambra Central, where Chief Dozie Nwankwo defeated Ambassador Jerry Ugokwe in a landslide to emerge victorious.

APC stakeholders had earlier held a strategic meeting chaired by Senator Uche Ekwunife, who coordinated the presidential primary activities in the state, before members dispersed to their various wards for the exercise.

Addressing party faithful, Ekwunife urged members to demonstrate that Anambra remains a stronghold of the APC through massive participation and support for the party.

Also speaking, Chief Sylvester Okonkwo, a top aide to the Senate President and member of the South East Development Commission, charged party members to vote overwhelmingly for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates.

Results monitored across Awka, Ogidi, Ideani, Abatete, Njikoka and Enugwu-Ukwu showed overwhelming support for Tinubu, who defeated Chief Osifo in the presidential primary.

In the APGA senatorial contest, Chief Dozie Nwankwo dominated the polls across the same areas, comfortably defeating Ambassador Jerry Ugokwe.

Political observers believe Nwankwo’s commanding performance has positioned him strongly ahead of the main election.
