Dr Virginia Ejezie has been appointed Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze, following a transparent and competitive selection process held on April 28, 2026.

The exercise, chaired by Dr Gani Azeez, Chairman of the Governing Council, was widely praised for its credibility and adherence to merit and due process.


A seasoned academic with a PhD in Science Education, Dr Ejezie also holds master’s degrees in Science Education and Business Administration. With over three decades of service and more than 40 scholarly publications, she is regarded as a strong blend of academic and administrative excellence.


Her extensive leadership experience includes serving as Director of Academic Planning, Dean of the School of Sciences, Head of Chemistry Department, and representative on the Governing Council.

She has also contributed to accreditation processes with the National Commission for Colleges of Education and served in several strategic committees.


As Dean, she oversaw increased student enrollment and improved institutional resources, strengthening confidence in the School of Sciences. Stakeholders describe her as disciplined, inclusive, and results-driven.


In her vision for the college, Dr. Ejezie emphasized institutional renewal, academic excellence, and alignment with national education reforms, including the Dual Mandate policy and the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.


Her appointment is expected to usher in a new phase of growth, improved welfare, and strengthened teacher education standards at the institution.
