A strong call for collaboration to drive innovation and economic growth in Anambra State took centre stage at the maiden UBS Quarterly Business Roundtable held on March 31, 2026, at UNIZIK Business School.

The event, themed “Anambra Triple Helix System: University–Industry–Government Alignment,” brought together policymakers, academics, and industry leaders to chart a path for sustainable development.

Speaking after the session, former Ambassador to Burundi, Dr. Elijah Onyeagba, stressed the need to redesign university curricula to reflect the realities of a fast-changing global economy. He noted that equipping students with practical, future-ready skills is essential for competitiveness.

He also highlighted the importance of increased private sector investment in research and development, noting that stronger industry participation would help bridge the gap between theory and practice.

According to Onyeagba, Anambra’s urban-driven economy offers vast opportunities that can only be maximized through deliberate collaboration among government, academia, and industry players.

He added that aligning academic excellence with hands-on experience would boost workforce readiness, enhance productivity, and position the state as a hub for innovation and sustainable economic growth.
