Stakeholders under the Strengthening Public Accountability for Results and Knowledge (SPARK 2) Project have reaffirmed commitment to reducing maternal and neonatal mortality in Anambra State through community-driven accountability.

The pledge was made in Awka during a review meeting on maternal and child healthcare service delivery across Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs).

Implemented by JDPC Nnewi, SIDEC, Civil Rights Concern (CRC) and Community Empowerment Network (COMEN), with support from the International Budget Partnership, the project focuses on strengthening grassroots capacity and improving service delivery.
Executive Director of SIDEC, Ugochi Ehiahuruike, said the meeting enabled stakeholders to assess progress, measure impact and plan next steps after a three-month extension of the project.
Programme Manager at JDPC Nnewi, Onyekachi Ololo, said efforts were ongoing to train health workers and community groups, monitor health budgets and ensure inclusion of vulnerable groups.
Stakeholders expressed optimism that sustained collaboration would help reduce maternal and neonatal deaths in the state.
