The election, which came after years of an alleged leadership crisis that had reportedly fractured the community, was hailed as a major step toward restoring peace and fostering development in the area.
Speaking shortly after the election, the President-General of Otolo Development Union, Hon. Amobi Adukwulu (Ikemba Otolo), described the exercise as “a thing of joy,” commending the people of Mbanagu for choosing the path of unity.
According to him, the community had been engulfed in a prolonged leadership tussle that stalled progress. “Through our collective intervention and God’s grace, the crisis has been resolved, and a proper election has finally taken place,” he said.
He expressed optimism that the emergence of new leaders would usher in peace and progress. He also urged the newly elected officials to seek divine guidance in discharging their duties, adding that leadership requires wisdom and humility.
One of the newly elected executives, Mr. Emeka Ikegwuonu, who was voted in as the First Vice President, said the poll was conducted in a free and fair atmosphere. “I’m grateful to the people for entrusting me with this responsibility. I promise to serve Mbanagu Community with all my heart,” he said.
Ikegwuonu also assured that the new leadership would be inclusive and transparent, stating that “no one will be left behind as we work to rebuild our community.”
In his remarks, the newly elected President-General, Engr. Kenechukwu Nwokolo, described the day as a significant milestone for the Mbanagu Community.
“Today is a special day in the history of Mbanagu. We thank God for making this possible. Leadership is ordained by God, and with His help, we shall move the community forward,” he said.
Engr. Nwokolo also pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor and called for unity among all stakeholders to ensure the continued progress of the community.
