During the interview, the Mayor said that his administration is moving very intentional about what they are doing, adding that when he assumed the position as the Executive Chairman of the council, there was a lot of propaganda which he took as a challenge, adding that he adopted peaceful measures with hardwork to overcome them.
He disclosed that for the past sixteen years, Nnewi North had lost lots of things as there were no political activities, no federal, State or local government presence.
He noted that there was a lot of confusion and that there was no peace. He said that the Council Area was in opposition, and that things were moving wrongly until his administration came on board and adopted peace.
Mayor said: ” I looked at peace as the area that needed concentration in the whole thing and if you had watched closely, there is unification everywhere because if you are expecting any progress in Nnewi North, we must embrace peace and virtually every angle of the town has come together. We have agreed that peace is the key to success and the moment we embraced it, lots of things started happening in Nnewi in a positive direction.
“Since my emergence by the grace of God, Nnewi North has been a partner with the Governor, Prof Soludo and we have been working together with a level of synergy, a lot of things are going on in Nnewi north. We have seen so many projects awarded in my tenure and commissioned by the State government.
“There are lots of projects awarded, also commissioned by the Local Government. Many are ongoing and all these couldn’t have been achieved without having peaceful environment and also living peacefully in Nnewi.
“I want to thank God for giving us grace to do the job. I thank my Governor, Prof Soludo for giving me the platform. I want to thank my family especially my wife for being the back bone of the whole achievements. Also the good people of Nnewi, you are very wonderful.
“APGA party has played a supportive role as well and in the town, the party is being seen as a family and not a political party.
“On our challenges, when I was contesting for the position I hold today, there were challenges and propaganda but eventually I have overcome them. If you lead a life that people will say, especially those who expect your downfall, ‘we said it’; it will be shameful. So, I see the whole thing as a challenge and today those who think we will fail are praising God on our behalf.
“Doing well and getting things done especially in a very timely manner is our philosophy and that has been the philosophy of Mr Governor.
“On the governorship election, we are more than prepared. The Governor has done enough and that makes it so easy for us to return him come November 8 governorship election.
“All the stakeholders joined us to celebrate our one year in office and to reaffirm our commitment in making sure our Governor returns to office. We are determined to doing that and no going back, “Mayor concluded.
