Rtrd Asst. Comptroller, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Anambra State Command, Uzoamaka Ozougwu has advised officers to maintain joyful spirit in course of their work despite its demanding nature.
Ozougwu gave the advice during a retirement ceremony organised in her honour at the Command Headquarters.
She said allowing God’s peace and joy to control their emotions would keep them prepared for any eventuality,” she said.
“Be joyful always because the job entails a lot. You can just be resting and a circular will come to move you.
“But allowing the peace and joy of the Lord to control your emotions keeps you ready for anything,” she said.
Describing the Command as a “home away from home” Ozougwu appreciated the management and colleagues for their cooperation and encouragement in making her work easier.
She also expressed gratitude to her family for their support throughout her 35 years of service.
Ozougwu who was enlisted into the NIS in 1991 as a Senior Immigration Assistant at the Enugu State Command, promised to remain available to her colleagues even after retirement.
She said, “The cooperation from my colleagues and support from home made made my career smooth, seamless and less stressful.
“I thank the Comptroller, the management, and all my colleagues. I appreciate the love we shared and the sacrifices you made because of me. Without you, I wouldn’t have performed. Your cooperation was top-notch.
“I’m deeply grateful to my family, particularly her husband and children, for their unwavering support which made my 35 years of service feel like “35 seconds.”
Speaking at the event, some officers described her as hardworking, unassuming and accessible.
They said she would be largely missed and prayed for God’s blessings, long life, and good health in her future endeavors.
The ceremony, attended by family members and colleagues, featured cake cutting in celebration of Ozougwu’s 54th birthday and presentation of gifts.
