Ebonyi indigenes resident in Anambra State have declared total support for the second-term bid of Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, ahead of the February 6, 2027 governorship election.
The group made its position known during a solidarity rally held in Onitsha on Monday, August 17, which attracted prominent Ebonyi sons and daughters from the state’s 13 local government areas.
President General of Ebonyi Indigenes in Anambra, Chief Moses Ofoke, urged Ebonyi people at home and in the diaspora to rally behind Nwifuru, citing his achievements in infrastructure, security and crisis resolution.
President General of Izzi people resident in Anambra, Evangelist Dr. Elijah Chukwuka Nwado, also commended the governor for his empowerment programmes, overseas scholarships, settlement of pension and gratuity arrears, construction of roads and modern traditional rulers’ palaces.
He further praised Nwifuru’s development of Ebonyi Airport and construction of a smart school in Izzi, saying the governor deserved another term to consolidate his achievements.
Chief Monday Nwokoye, Ikemba of Okpoto, Ishielu LGA, described Nwifuru as a “Prince of Peace,” crediting him with resolving several boundary and communal conflicts involving Ebonyi and neighbouring states.
He said the governor had also rebuilt houses destroyed during conflicts and resettled displaced residents.
Similarly, Engr. Amos Eze, President General of Mgbo/Ezea Mgbo Town Union Association in Anambra, declared that his people would mobilise for Nwifuru’s re-election, insisting that there was “no vacancy” at the Ebonyi Government House in 2027.
Other speakers, including HRH Eze Thomas Nwangene, Mr. Ifeanyi Okoh, Hon. Justice O. Ekumah, Chief Nwonu Linus, Mr. Ifeanyi Ezeani, Chief Moses Egbom, Barr. Uchenna Achor and High Chief Chukwudi Aloh, pledged to mobilise their communities for the governor’s re-election.
