Anambra Police caution against spread of unverified social media allegations

The Anambra State Police Command has expressed concern over the growing trend of some social media users recording and circulating videos alleging police misconduct without first verifying facts or engaging the Command through appropriate channels.

According to the Command, such actions are capable of misleading the public, inciting tension, undermining security operations, and eroding confidence in law enforcement agencies across the State.

While reaffirming that citizens have the constitutional right to seek justice and express grievances, the Command condemned the deliberate spread of unverified, misleading, or one-sided narratives aimed at portraying the Police and other security agencies negatively.

The Command reiterated its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and respect for fundamental human rights, urging members of the public to make use of the official complaint and redress mechanisms established by the Nigeria Police Force for prompt investigation and appropriate action on allegations involving police personnel.

Residents were encouraged to report complaints through the following official channels:

  • Command Control Room – 07039194332
  • OC X Squad – 07015949305
  • Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) – 08039334002

  • Rapid Response Squad (RRS) – 07058040015

  • The Command further warned against the misuse of social media platforms to spread false information, incite hatred, or obstruct lawful security duties, stressing that such actions may attract legal consequences.

  • Meanwhile, the Police assured Ndi Anambra of its continued collaboration with other security agencies and community stakeholders to strengthen public safety, maintain law and order, and promote transparent, community-oriented policing.
