The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), under the leadership of Comrade Uchenna Madu, has called on its sister organisation, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to immediately end its internal crisis, warning that the ongoing public exchange of accusations is damaging the Biafra self-determination struggle.
In a statement signed by its National Director of Information, Comrade Edeson Samuel, MASSOB said it would ordinarily refrain from interfering in the affairs of another organisation, but noted that the Biafra cause makes it necessary to speak out.
According to the group, the attacks and counter-attacks, allegations and counter-allegations currently dominating the public space are unhealthy and detrimental to the collective struggle for the actualisation and restoration of Biafra.
Describing IPOB as a respected organisation with a significant role in the Biafra movement, MASSOB urged its leadership and members to stop actions capable of tarnishing its image.
“MASSOB calls for peace, unity and mutual understanding within the leadership of IPOB. Sheathe your rancorous swords and embrace dialogue to resolve all internal disagreements in the overall interest of the Biafra struggle,” the statement read.
The organisation also reiterated its position on the leadership structure of the Biafra movement, insisting that there is no recognised title known as “Supreme Leader” in Biafra.
It argued that the title “Supreme” belongs exclusively to God Almighty, warning that any attempt to assume or endorse such a designation amounts to a direct challenge to God’s supremacy.
MASSOB recalled that on June 29, 2017, pro-Biafra organisations under the umbrella of the Biafra People National Council (BPNC), including MASSOB, unanimously recognised Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as the Arrowhead of the Biafra Struggle, not as a “Supreme Leader.”
The group appealed to all pro-Biafra organisations and stakeholders to place the collective interest of the struggle above personal differences, stressing that unity remains essential to achieving the aspirations of the Biafra people.
