APGA primary: Chidebelu urges members to choose competence

Ahead of the May 23 APGA primary election, House of Assembly aspirant for Anambra East Constituency, Henry Toochukwu Chidebelu, has urged party members to prioritize competence, qualification and accessibility in choosing candidates.


Speaking after the screening exercise for House of Assembly aspirants at the APGA Secretariat in Awka, Chidebelu called for a level playing field for all contestants during the primary election.


He said APGA, as a progressive party, should ensure that no aspirant is given undue advantage over others, stressing that direct primaries would allow members decide freely.


Chidebelu expressed confidence in winning the primary, citing growing support among party members across the constituency.


He also outlined plans to focus on youth empowerment, agricultural development, support for farmers, rural infrastructure and regular town hall meetings if elected.
The aspirant further urged party members to support candidates capable of securing victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
