Students’ group makes financial donation to President Tinubu, reaffirms support for Renewed Hope Agenda

A coalition of Nigerian students has publicly expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by making a symbolic financial donation, describing the gesture as their contribution to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The students, drawn from various tertiary institutions across the country, presented the donation during a solidarity visit, stating that the move was driven by their belief in the government’s ongoing reforms in education, youth empowerment, and economic development.

Speaking on behalf of the group, their representative said the initiative was not influenced by political pressure but by a desire to show appreciation for policies they believe are gradually creating opportunities for young Nigerians.

They also highlighted ongoing student loan schemes and education support programmes as key reasons for their support.

The group further urged the federal government to sustain and expand interventions targeted at students, especially in areas of funding, infrastructure, and job creation after graduation.

In response, the presidency acknowledged the gesture, describing it as encouraging, while reiterating the administration’s commitment to policies aimed at improving access to education and strengthening youth inclusion in governance and economic planning.

The development has since generated mixed reactions across social and political circles, with some viewing it as a show of civic engagement, while others question the symbolism of financial donations from students amid ongoing economic challenges.
