Ejiofor urges Ndigbo to strengthen community security amid rising insecurity

Human rights lawyer and lead counsel for IPOB, Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has called on Ndigbo to strengthen community vigilance and adopt lawful measures to protect their people and homeland amid worsening insecurity across Nigeria.

In a statement on Wednesday, Ejiofor said communities must take proactive steps to support legitimate security initiatives and build resilience against emerging threats.

He urged traditional institutions, community organizations, and other lawful structures to play active roles in promoting safety and stability.

According to him, history has shown the dangers of ignoring warning signs, stressing that preparedness, unity, and strategic planning are essential for survival.

Ejiofor expressed concern over the growing activities of terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal elements across the country, noting that many communities now live under constant fear.

He also criticized political leaders for focusing on future elections while security challenges continue to threaten lives and livelihoods.

The lawyer called for collective action, vigilance, and lawful community-based efforts to safeguard lives, property, and the future of coming generations.
