The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) stakeholders in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Sunday nominated Engr Chris Obiora for Governor Charles Soludo’s approval to continue as theTransmission Committee Chairman.
Engr Obiora was nominated unopposed by 80-member APGA stakeholders who carried out the exercise at the Council secretariat in the presence of the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon Christian Udechukwu and other governement officials.
For Education Secretary for the Council Area, Lady Chika Enuma polled 27 votes; Mrs Ifeoma Uzoewulu 18 votes and Mrs Ethel Ileka 18 votes. Lady Enuma was duly nominated for Education Secretary of the LGA.
The Nnewi North Council Chairman of the APGA, Mr Anthony Muodelo who presided over the meeting described the excercise as a successful one and thanked the party stakeholders for maintaining decorum during the event.
“Nnewi North APGA stakeholders spoke in one voice and nominated Engr Chris Obiora unopposed to continue as the Nnewi North LGA Chairman, “he said.
According to guidelines for the nomination, a list of party stakeholders from the LGA was forwarded to the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Dr Alex Obiogboli who after scrutiny sent it back to the Council Area for the exercise.
The guidelines instructed that those to be elected should be persons of good standing, who possessed the competence and passion to contribute to the transformational agenda of the Council Area.
In his acceptance speech, Obiora nominated for another tenure as the TC Chairman promised to do more in the area of infrastructure development, road maintenance, youth employment and other areas in line with the LGA transformational agenda.
