A section of the newly built Anambra State Government House complex has collapsed following a heavy windstorm, raising fresh concerns about the quality of the project commissioned months ago by Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The incident, which occurred Thursday night, involved barricades erected around the complex. The structures reportedly gave way during a downpour, leaving debris scattered across the area.

No casualties were recorded, as the collapse happened at night when traffic was minimal.

Workers and visitors have expressed fears over the integrity of the multi-billion naira facility, citing leaks and other defects noticed shortly after the first rains of the year.

Some sources alleged the project may have been rushed, pointing to visible structural concerns across parts of the 57-building complex.

Eyewitnesses described the collapse as alarming, noting that the affected route is usually busy during the day.

“If this had happened earlier, it could have led to serious casualties,” a worker said.

As of press time, the state government under Charles Charles Soludo had not issued an official statement. However, sources indicate that an assessment team may be deployed to investigate the cause of the failure.

Civil society groups have called for an independent probe, adding that there is need for accountability and safety in public infrastructure projects.
