Many Nigerian celebrities live fake lives –Ashley

Cameroonian singer, songwriter, and high-energy performer, Ashley Stephanie has never been one to blend into the background. With a growing reputation as one of Africa’s most captivating female entertainers, the CEO of Ashley Stephanie Music is now taking her bold persona beyond the stage, into the world of luxury lifestyle commentary.

In a recent encounter with Saturday Sun, the music diva, who proudly refers to herself as ‘The Lifestyle Police,’ called out Nigerian celebrities for what she described as a lack of authenticity and subpar representation of global-standard luxury. Ashley argued that African celebrities, particularly in Nigeria’s vibrant entertainment industry, must begin to embody the celebrity lifestyle more convincingly, especially when they claim global relevance.

“I am The Lifestyle Police and I am officially on duty. I’m here to teach your favourite Nigerian celebrities how to live the celebrity lifestyle properly and to call out the fake ones until they learn. If you consider yourself a celebrity, present yourself correctly. If you represent culture, represent it at a global standard,” she said.

In her critique, Ashley referenced two of Nigeria’s biggest music exports, Wizkid and Davido, using them as examples of how, in her view, Nigerian superstars could elevate their luxury lifestyle branding.

“Someone like Wizkid, I don’t know what is stopping him from owning a private jet. And his counterpart, Davido, should try to customise his, so he could live up to standard. No filters. No borrowed luxury. No ‘fake it till you make it. Nigerian celebrities have a lot to learn,” she noted. Ashley’s comments come on the heels of her latest personal project, a YouTube series titled #LifestyleWithAshley, which she described as a platform designed to showcase what she calls “real luxury.”

She explained that the show is not intended as gossip or social media shade, but rather as a deliberate attempt to promote what she considers authentic celebrity culture.

“Lifestyle with Ashley is where luxury lives, not rented, and lifestyle is a discipline not a costume,” she said. The singer added that she lives her lifestyle “to the fullest,” describing luxury as a language of confidence rather than noise.

“My outfit today cost over half a million pounds because real lifestyle doesn’t shout. It commands,” she added.
