Iran has announced that several “enemy aircraft” were destroyed during a reported U.S. mission to recover a stranded airman within its territory, according to statements released on Sunday by the country’s Revolutionary Guards.

The claim, carried by Tasnim news agency, said the operation involved multiple branches of Iran’s armed and security forces, including aerospace and ground units, as well as paramilitary and police commands.

According to Iranian authorities, the aircraft allegedly destroyed included a U.S. C-130 military transport plane and two Black Hawk helicopters. The incident was said to have occurred in the southern part of Isfahan province.

A spokesperson for Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, which serves as the unified command of Iran’s armed forces, confirmed the development, stating that the aircraft were downed during a coordinated defensive operation.

Earlier on the same day, Iran’s military also reported that it had shot down an Israeli drone in the same region, further escalating tensions in the area.

There has been no immediate confirmation or response from the United States or Israel regarding these claims.

The situation remains fluid, with analysts closely monitoring developments amid rising geopolitical tensions in the region.
