Child’s welfare Soludo’s priority, Commissioner insists as Police arrest woman over child abuse

Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has reassured that welfare of any child in the State remained topmost in the priority of Governor Charles Soludo’s administration.

The assurance followed arrest of 29-year old woman, Edeh Osinachi for assaulting one Miss Amah Miracle, a student of Community Secondary School Agulu Awka in Awka South Local Government Area of the state.

She said any matter relating to child abuse would not be trivialized under her watch, just as she assured that full weight of the law would be brought to bear on the suspect if found guilty.

“We are not treating any matter relating to child abuse with kid gloves. Investigations are ongoing, the full weight of the law would be brought to bear on the suspect if found guilty,” the Commissioner warned.

Narrating her ordeal at the staff room of the School, the victim who also hails from Ohafia in Ebonyi State, said her mistress inflicted grievous bodily injuries and burns on her using electric iron.

“It all started on Friday night, when my madam, Edeh Osinachi over heard my phone conversation with somebody I thought was my cousin.

“After series of interrogations and threats, my madam inflicted grievous bodily injuries and burns on me using electric iron,” she decried.
