Breaking: Oko poly lecturer, Okey Offor steps in as Ikegwuonu steps down for Nnewi North LG Chairmanship election

Barely 96 hours after his declaration to contest Nnewi North local government Chairmanship election under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Brother Dennis Ikegwuonu, who is currently the Chairman of Agboedo Motor Spare Parts Association has stepped down to allow a lecturer of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Hon Okey Offor of the same Uru community to step into the political battle field.

Bro Ikegwuonu who has gained popularity among Nkwo Nnewi traders was said to have declared his intention to withdraw from the forthcoming Nnewi North Chairmanship election, citing personal reasons for his decision.

Though out of the race, Ikegwuonu was said to have officially endorsed Hon Offor, appealing to his supporters to give maximum support to the new aspirant, a move that many political observers described as a surprising one.

Hon Offor, who is among the intellectuals in Nnewi with outstanding leadership qualities confirmed the development in a telephone interview, admitting that he has stepped in for the contest.

Hon Offor is a lecturer in Mass Communication department, Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State. Offor, known for his strong political will and an APGA loyalist is expected to make a difference in the political arena.

Others to contest with Offor for the ticket of the Executive Chairmanship seat of the Council Area Echezona Anazodo, Chinedu Ubah, Ngozi Ubah and possibly others yet to declare.

All efforts to reach Bro Ikegwuonu failed as his phone remained switched off.
