The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, has urged Presidents-General of communities across the state to make security and the wellbeing of their people a top priority.
CP Nnanna made the call on September 4, 2026, when he received the Association of Presidents-General of Communities in Anambra State.
The Commissioner described the Presidents-General as strategic stakeholders in the security architecture of their communities, stressing that their support and cooperation were crucial to the Police and other security agencies in the fight against criminality.
He urged the community leaders to prioritise peace, security and development while strengthening their partnership with the Police through the timely provision of credible information capable of helping to prevent and tackle crime.
According to him, security is a collective responsibility, requiring effective collaboration among security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders and residents.
CP Nnanna therefore called on Presidents-General and other community stakeholders to remain vigilant, support lawful security initiatives and promptly report suspicious persons and activities to the Police.
Responding, the President of the Association of Presidents-General of Communities, Chief Sir Vin Dike, thanked the Commissioner for granting the association an audience and pledged the continued cooperation and support of community leaders to the Police Command.
Dike assured that the Presidents-General, as critical stakeholders in the state, would use their positions to discourage actions and activities capable of undermining peace and security in their respective communities.
The Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening community policing and strategic partnerships with community leaders and other stakeholders towards sustaining peace and security across Anambra State.
